Old Mates Farm

We have created a unique and family friendly camping experience on our private, closed gate, 160 acre farm on the Atherton Tablelands and we invite you to book your next camping trip with us.

Old Mates Farm is conveniently located only 15 minutes from Atherton, or 1.5 hours from Cairns. Meaning that the ‘are we there yet‘ question won’t have you wishing you were at home.  It is centrally located to get out and explore all of the wonderful attractions that the Atherton Tablelands has to offer.

We have carefully considered rules in place to ensure the entire campground is a child friendly and safe environment. We love to see our guests riding their bikes around the many tracks on the property, taking a stroll up to the waterfall and making new friends whilst on their adventures or playing games under the shelter at the Barn. We even have a campsite suitable for those with horses to bring them along too, or you can book yourself in for a trail ride at Tait’s Wongabel Stables which is located a short drive from Old Mates Farm.

Our camp sites are shaded in carefully selected locations along Moran Creek and the Barron River amongst our rolling hills and Australian Rainforest bushland.  Each site has its own unique features and suitability to different group sizes and camping styles (camper trailer or tent) and vehicle clearance.

If your family is not equipped for camping, but you would still like to experience Old Mates Farm, we have Camp Huts available with beds and camp cook equipment including a BBQ. They even have their own fireplace.

You can’t go camping without a fire, and we have that covered, literally, each fireplace is safely placed in a pit with a small roof covering. You can bring your own wood, or we have split hardwood available for purchase.

We also have clean flushing toilets and coin operated hot showers conveniently located near each camp site. We receive many excited comments about our “loo with a view”.

Perhaps the most anticipated part of each day, is the late afternoon animal feeding and farmyard experience. We invite all of our camping guests to join us in getting up close and feeding our menagerie chickens, ducks, geese, sheep, goats, horses, pigs and buffalo.
